If Your House Does Not Sell...

In Feng Shui we evaluate a house and its property for sufficient Chi (pronounce “chee“). Chi is the living energy of all beings and also of the land and buildings there.

If a house does not sell, something is wrong with the Chi of the house:

1. There is simply not enough Chi:

When one comes home after an exhausting day at work the house should be a source of energy for rejuvenation. After a good night’s sleep one should feel rested and fresh - geared up for new challenges. If instead one feels tired or beaten-up, a deficiency of Chi is likely.

Not enough Chi can mean that the land energy is low or depressed - a typical observation with Geopathic Stress, either of the property or of the house itself.  (geo = the earth, pathology = study of illness, Geopathic Stress = stress caused by degenerating earth energies). These can be major energy grids as well as blockages of the energy flow through the landscape.

Low Chi might also occur on a dead end street or bottleneck-shaped property. Just as the owner may feel tired and uninspired, this energetic impression also influences visitors and potential buyers.

Try to find out if people feel exhausted in the house and what the sleeping patterns are. Are the plants doing well? We use specific Space Harmonizers to shield a whole building from general energetic drains, from Geopathic Stress and electro-magnetic fields (EMFs), and also to bring in new balanced energies.

Dowsing instruments such as pendulums or European tensors can help to identify energy patterns and to find the right procedures to remedy them.

2. The overall house energies are imbalanced or major Feng Shui principles are violated:

  • Clutter in front of the house.
  • High obstacles in front of the house (bushs, trees, garages) blocking the flow of Chi.
  • Abandonment of the front door as the main entry point..
  • A property opposite of a graveyard, hospital, church (especially those with steep towers), police or fire stations. All these places often carry the energies of sorrow and pain. They radiate these patterns into the nearby environment.
  • Houses at T-crossings with accelerated traffic energy speeding toward the house.
  • Houses closer than 30 feet apart result in overlapping house aura fields and an unsettling feeling for the inhabitants.

A few weeks ago I passed a house we had looked at several years ago here in Portland. It is a John Calvin Stevens home, a beautiful house but too close to a high building without an appropriate space between the two. This house is on the market for the fourth time in several years. It always takes a while before anyone buys it. However, as long as the invasion of the neighbor building's energy and its threat is unresolved, this cycle of unsatisfying ownerships will continue.

A far too close neighbor building makes it uncomfortable to live in the smaller house.

3.  There are other obstacles hindering the sale:

  • We sometimes find cases where the energies of former owners or people who died in the house or on the property seem to disturb any progress.
  • Natural forces such as elementals - beings connected with the land itself or with the plant kingdom - or the air and water quality can cause blockages as well. Major environmental  projects such as power lines, road work, or large construction sites can create ruptures through earth meridians and produce trauma to the land.
  • Once in a while land has been used for sacred ceremonies, e.g., as a burial ground. These are the most difficult situations. In this case it is helpful to have assistance. Call in an experienced dowser or energy worker if you feel you need help.

We recommend energetically clearing the land and the house before putting it up for sale. Do this also if one has just purchased a new home. In order to maintain good results the space should be sealed properly. We have experienced significant improvements with selling a property after performing a space clearing.

And a last thought: Dramatic results require dramatic changes. The pace and the amount of adjustments often determine the speed of the sale.
