I am pleased to introduce Wemer Brandmaier, owner of Feng Shui of New England. Wemer is recently affiliated with our clinic, and has been eagerly received by our patients. Although familiar with the term "feng shui", I was not really aware of the philosophy behind the practice, or of its incredible relationship to one's health. Since meeting Werner, and enjoying the benefits of his work, I am truly honored to have him associated with our clinic. Wemer's work has changed my life.
Last July I bought a home in Limington, Maine, and my family and I moved there in September 2000. During the fall and winter, my entire family suffered from a series of health issues, which was highly unusual for us. After all, we are adjusted on a regular basis! When spring arrived and we were still unwell, I speculated to my daughter "something must be wrong with our house". Although halfjoking, I was actually beginning to wonder if this could not be true. When my son, who is seventeen and had never had'an antibiotic cross his lips, had to have antibiotics for a recurring sinus infection, I realized something must be done.
Fortunately, our massage therapist, Magdalena Winkler, brought a feng shui book into the office. As I read through it, I realized that factors in our homes did indeed have an influence on our health. I contacted Werner to become more informed on the issue. It became apparent that Werner had a great deal to offer both to my family and to my patients.
We sponsored a Feng Shui seminar at the clinic. Everyone who attended is involved in health care in one capacity or another. It was an incredible day, with everyone excited about their new found knowledge and the implications it has on their lives.
Following the seminar, Werner came to my home. He found a number of situations, which were clearly affecting our health. Although we have not yet completed all of his recommendations, we can already see the change in our lives. Personally, I have seen an increase in my energy level, improved sleep, and general sense of well being. Werner's work at my house was only done three days ago, so I am very optimistic about the ensuing days and weeks.
As chiropractors, we have always been aware of the integration of factors, which play a role in health. We are also aware that there has been a paradigm shift in America; a shift from sick care to wellness care. We have the opportunity to be the leaders in this movement. As other health care providers may cling to the "old " model of sickness care, we can lead the way through the unfamiliar waters of the "new" model. Our familiarity with, and referrals to like minded practitioners will make the transition smoother for our patients.
